I Am Not Enough

Ohhhh the struggle with being "enough".

I've always struggled with this one.

Not being pretty enough.

Not being thin enough.

Not being smart enough.

Not being funny enough.

Not being strong enough.

Not being good enough.

Why is that?

The comparison game.  We play it basically every day.  What's scary is that we play this game and have no idea that we're not only "catching the ball" but we're also "throwing the ball" (please go along with me using this baseball analogy).

What do I mean?

"I could never go back to school like _______, I'm not smart enough."

"I could never date _____, I'm not pretty enough."

"I could never wear that outfit, I'm not thin enough."

"______ will never like me, I'm not funny enough."

"I could never do that race, I'm not strong enough."

"I'll never be as good of a mom as ______, I'm not good enough."

You're feeling me, right? You've told yourself a line similar to one of these, I'm sure of it.  I'm convinced this is one of Satan's favorite ball games to play! He loves when we compare ourselves to each other!  Anytime we tell ourselves one of these things, we're catching Satan's ball.  Anytime we say it to someone else OR fail to speak truth over someone else or ourselves, we're throwing Satan's ball.

So what is the truth?

The truth is...you are NOT enough. I am NOT enough.

WHAT.

Yes, I meant to say that.

The truth is...we are not enough on our own.

Jesus is enough. He is all we have needed, currently need, and will ever need.  When we have Him, we have enough. When we have Him, WE ARE ENOUGH.

Theodore Roosevelt had it right...comparison truly is the thief of joy.  The only person we should strive to be better than is the person we were yesterday.  The only person we should strive to be more like is Jesus Christ.

You, my friend, are enough! Stop relying on yourself.  Start looking to the creator of the moon and the stars for your help. He is your confidence (Heb. 4:16). The victory is won (1 Cor. 15:57, Prov. 21:31, 1 John 5:4). Don't play Satan's game. Let God throw the pitches in your life. His arms are open and He's waiting for you at home plate (Heaven). What a glorious day that will be, when our Jesus we shall see... : )

In Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul He fills with good things. Psalm 107:9
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” John 6:35
And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:19

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 2 Cor. 9:8

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence, by which He has granted to us His precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. 2 Pet. 1:3-4

Bless and be blessed!
